Full closure of
Interstate 75 scheduled next week

(Thursday,
Jan. 15, 2015) –
Bridge work will require nightly full closures of northbound
Interstate 75 between the Mitchell Avenue and Norwood Lateral
interchanges beginning Tuesday, Jan. 20 and continuing through Saturday,
Jan. 24.
The
closure is scheduled from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night, weather permitting. The detour is northbound I-75 to westbound I-74
to eastbound I-275 to northbound I-75.
In
addition, work on southbound I-75 will require a single lane closure beginning
at 8 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 11 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19 and
Wednesday, Jan. 21, with all lanes open to traffic by 6 a.m. the following day.
Monday’s work includes closure of the ramp from SR 562 to southbound I-75 and a
rolling road closure on southbound I-75. Work is weather permitting.
Also,
work at the I-75/Hopple interchange will require the following closures the
week of Jan. 18:
· Double
lane closure on southbound I-75 beginning 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18 and 9
p.m. Monday, Jan. 19 through Thursday, Jan. 22, with all lanes reopen to
traffic by 6 a.m. the following day. The lane closures will be in place from
just north of I-74 to just south of Hopple. In addition, 30-minutes rolling
closures will be in place on southbound I-75 from midnight to 5 a.m. each
night.
· Various
lane closures on Marshall Avenue and side streets from 9 .m. to 3 p.m. each
day.
Arrow
boards and signs will be in place to alert motorists of the upcoming closures. To help
ensure the safety of the construction workers as well as the traveling public,
motorists should remain alert, reduce their speed and watch for stopped traffic
while passing through the work zone.
