I-75/Hopple Street Interchange Work to Begin

Hamilton County (Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013) – Work to reconstruct and improve the Interstate 75/Hopple Street interchange will begin next week.

Designated Phase 4 of the I-75 Mill Creek Expressway, this project will update I-75 from the Western Hills Viaduct to I-74. Additional lanes, improved ramp design and new bridges will be constructed as part of the project, which was awarded to Kokosing Construction Inc. on its bid of $90,790,431. When finished, this 1.5 mile interstate project will provide an efficient and safe connection to local hospitals, colleges and businesses in this area of Cincinnati. Completion is targeted for December 2016.

To accommodate the placement of temporary barrier wall for this project, the following closures will be in place:
Monday, March 4:  The right lane of northbound I-75 from just north of the Western Hills Viaduct to Hopple Street, will be closed to traffic beginning at 8 p.m., reopening by 6 a.m. the following day. In addition, the northbound entrance ramp to Hopple Street will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday, March 5.
Tuesday, March 5:  The left lane of southbound I-75 from just north of Monmouth Street to Hopple Street will be closed to traffic, beginning at 8 p.m., reopening by 6 a.m. the following day.  Also, the westbound Hopple Street ramp to southbound I-75 will be closed at 10 p.m., reopening by 5 a.m. Wednesday, March 6.

Arrow boards and/or signs will be in place to alert motorists of the upcoming work zone and lane and ramp closures.

To help ensure the safety of the construction workers as well as the traveling public, motorists should remain alert, reduce their speed and watch for stopped traffic while passing through the work zone.
