Interstate 71 lane closures scheduled for pavement work

Hamilton County (Monday, Aug. 2, 2016) – Pavement work requires various lane closures on Interstate 71 beginning tonight.

Lane closures will be in effect on northbound I-71 from the Fort Washington Way split to eastbound U.S 50, continuing through the Lytle Tunnel to approximately Reading Road/Gilbert Avenue (mile marker 2). Traffic will be maintained.

These lane closures will be in effect each night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day Tuesday, Aug. 2 through Friday, Aug. 5 – lanes will be reopened by Saturday morning at 5 a.m.

This work is part of the effort to improve the pavement condition of north and southbound I-71 in the vicinity of the Lytle Tunnel. It will be completed in the fall of 2017.

Repaving I-71 in both directions will also occur beginning next summer from just north of the Lytle Tunnel up to the Norwood Lateral. This project will also be completed in the fall of 2017.

Arrow boards and/or signs will be in place to alert motorists of the upcoming lane closures. All work is dependent upon weather.

To help ensure the safety of the construction workers as well as the traveling public, motorists should remain alert, reduce their speed and watch for stopped traffic while passing through the work zone.
