Interstate 71/MLK project update

 

Hamilton County (Monday, Nov. 16, 2015) – As part of the work to create a new, full movement interchange at Interstate 71 and Martin Luther King Drive, the following restrictions will be in place this week:

Monday, Nov. 16

·         Beginning at 8 p.m. with all lanes open by 6 a.m. the next day

o   At the intersection of Martin Luther King and Harvey, eastbound Martin Luther King will be reduced to one lane in each direction, with westbound Martin Luther King reduced to one lane at Reading

o   At the intersection of Reading and Lincoln, westbound Lincoln will be reduced to one lane at Concordia, with eastbound reduced to one lane at University and Vernon

Tuesday, Nov. 17

·         From 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

o   Fredonia will be reduced to one lane between Martin Luther King and I-71

·         From 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

o   Victory Parkway at I-71 will be reduced to one lane in each direction

·         Beginning at 8 p.m. with all lanes open by 6 a.m. the next day

o   At the intersection of Reading and Martin Luther King, southbound Reading will be reduced to one lane at Union, with northbound Reading reduced to one lane at Lincoln

o   Melish will be closed at Martin Luther King and Reading

Wednesday, Nov. 18

·         From 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

o   Fredonia reduced to one lane between Martin Luther King and I-71

·         From 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

o   Victory Parkway at I-71 will be reduced to one lane in each direction

·         Beginning at 8 p.m. with all lanes open by 6 a.m. the next day

o   At the intersection of Whittier and Martin Luther King, southbound Reading will be reduced to one lane at Ridgeway, with northbound Reading reduced to one lane at Martin Luther King

Thursday, Nov. 19

·         Beginning at 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.

o   Fredonia will be reduced to one lane between Martin Luther King and I-71

·         From 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

o   Victory Parkway at I-71 will be reduced to one lane in each direction

·         From 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.

o   Martin Luther King will be closed at its intersections with Reading and Gilbert

·         Additional lane closures on local streets may also be necessary for signal work

Friday, Nov. 20

·         Beginning at 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.

o   Fredonia will be reduced to one lane between Martin Luther King and I-71

·         From 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

o   Victory Parkway at I-71 will be reduced to one lane in each direction

·         From 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day

o   Martin Luther King will be closed at its intersections with Reading and Gilbert

·         Additional lane closures on local streets may also be necessary for signal work

Law enforcement officers will maintain traffic with flagging operations. During the closures on Martin Luther King and Reading, there will only be one street restricted at each intersection. All work is weather dependent.

Arrow boards and/or signs will be in place to alert motorists of the upcoming work zone. To help ensure the safety of the construction workers as well as the traveling public, motorists should remain alert, reduce their speed and watch for stopped traffic while passing through the work zone.
