New traffic pattern slated for I-75/Hopple interchange work

New traffic pattern slated for I-75/Hopple interchange work

Hamilton County (Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013) - As work on the Interstate 75/Hopple Street interchange continues, work to implement a new traffic configuration will take place Saturday, Nov. 16, beginning at 6 a.m.

Once this work is completed by 4 p.m., Martin Luther King Drive between Central Parkway and the Forum Apartments will be closed and traffic placed on the new Connector Road behind White Castle. Connector Road intersects with Central Parkway just south of White Castle and ties into existing Martin Luther King just east of the Forum Apartments.  This road will be used to provide access from Central Parkway to Martin Luther King.

Also, the intersection of Central Parkway and Hopple Street will be modified. Eastbound Hopple Street traffic will have the option of turning left to north on Central Parkway or right to south on Central Parkway and to access the Connector Road. Southbound Central Parkway traffic will proceed south through the Hopple and Central Parkway intersection and turn left at the new intersection at Connector Road and Central Parkway to access Martin Luther King Drive via the Connector Road.

This new traffic configuration will require closure of the westbound Hopple Street ramp to southbound I-75 for approximately one year or until the new Hopple Street bridge and westbound Hopple Street ramp to southbound I-75 are complete.  The detour is:

•   Southbound Central Parkway traffic:  West on Monmouth Street to south on Colerain Avenue to east on Hopple Street to the eastbound Hopple Street ramp to southbound I-75.
•   Northbound Central Parkway traffic:  West on Marshall Avenue to north on Colerain Avenue to east on Hopple Street to the eastbound Hopple Street ramp to southbound I-75.
•   Westbound Connector Road traffic:  South on Central Parkway to west on Marshall Avenue to north on Colerain Avenue to east on Hopple Street to the eastbound Hopple Street ramp to southbound I-75.

In addition, Martin Luther King between Central Parkway and Dixmyth Avenue will be closed during the traffic switch. Emergency access through the closure will be maintained at all times. The detour is:

•  Central Parkway to Marshall Avenue to Riddle Road.

Arrow boards and signs are in place prior to the work zone to alert motorists of the upcoming closures.  To help ensure the safety of the construction workers as well as the traveling public, motorists should remain alert, reduce their speed and watch for stopped traffic while passing through the work zone.
