Completed Northbound Interstate 71 Exit Ramp / Loop
Ramp
Makes Big Improvements to Fields-Ertel Interchange
WARREN COUNTY (Monday, Nov. 2, 2015) – The Warren County Transportation Improvement
District, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Transportation, Deerfield
Township, Ohio Kentucky Indiana Regional Council of Governments and the
Hamilton County Transportation Improvement District and Symmes Township, have
completed the Northbound Interstate 71 Exit Ramp / Loop Ramp, which improves
safety and reduces congestion at the Fields-Ertel Interchange, located in the
southwest region of Warren County and Deerfield Township.
“This interchange serves as a corridor gateway into
southwest Warren County and will provide a significant improvement for our
residents, businesses, and visitors,” said Warren County Commissioner President
David Young. “This northbound exit loop ramp project has eliminated tens of
thousands of cars that after exiting Interstate 71 had to travel through the
Fields-Ertel Road and Mason-Montgomery Road intersection.”
“These improvements support economic development and improve
access to one of the most important employment hubs in southwest Ohio,”
continues Commissioner Young. “Ensuring that our local workforce can travel
safely and efficiently to their destination is one of our key transportation
priorities for this area, and we are pleased to see the completion of this work
as it supports both current and future job creation in our area.”
The $14 million dollar loop ramp project, which is now
complete and open to traffic, relieves congestion at the busy Fields-Ertel
interchange by allowing northbound traffic to by-pass the intersection
(Fields-Ertel Road and Mason-Montgomery Road).
“This northbound exit loop ramp makes for a safer, smarter
interchange to eliminate delays, keep traffic moving and improve safety,” said
Warren County Engineer Neil F. Tunison, PE, PS.
Ohio Department of Transportation Deputy District 8
Director, Tammy Campbell, says, “This interchange has been an ongoing safety
and congestion issue for ODOT District 8. This new ramp is an important phase
in correcting these problems.”
This project was preceded by a progression of recent
improvements to the Fields-Ertel Interchange which included the northbound exit
/ gore extension and lane expansion, the southbound exit additional right turn
lane onto Mason-Montgomery Road, the new lane constructed on northbound
Mason-Montgomery Road, and 22 traffic signal improvements.
The traveling public is encouraged to be aware of the new
loop ramp and approach with care as they familiarize themselves with the new
traffic pattern.
