Northbound I-71 full closures scheduled this weekend

Interstate 71 full closures scheduled this weekend

Hamilton County (Monday, June 13, 2016) – Pavement and bridge work require various closures of northbound Interstate 71 this weekend.

Beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, June 17, the following closures will occur:

·         4th Street on-ramp to northbound I-71 in Covington. The detour uses 4th Street to southbound I-71 to the Pike Street exit, back to northbound I-71, and
·         Northbound I-71 across the Brent Spence Bridge

Lanes will reopen to traffic at 6 a.m. Saturday, June 18 and will close again at 9 p.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Sunday, June 19. Outside of these time frames, one lane of northbound I-71 will be maintained just north of the Lytle Tunnel.

There will be delays in the area and it is recommended motorists use I-275 as a detour, or northbound I-75 to SR 562.

Arrow boards and/or signs will be in place to alert motorists of the upcoming work zones. All work is weather dependent.

To help ensure the safety of the construction workers as well as the traveling public, motorists should remain alert, reduce their speed and watch for stopped traffic while passing through the work zone.
