Interstate 71 lane and short-term rolling closures scheduled for traffic switch
Hamilton County (Wednesday, March 1, 2017) – In order to prepare for a traffic switch which will put southbound Interstate 71 traffic on the new southbound bridge deck north of the Lytle Tunnel, the follow restrictions will be in place tonight:
Wednesday, March 1: Double left lane closure on southbound I-71 from just north of Reading Road to the Lytle Tunnel from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. Thursday, March 2. Also, various short-term (15-minute) rolling closures on north and southbound I-71 from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. Thursday.
In early May, northbound traffic will be shifted to the southbound side just north of the tunnel, returning to the northbound side just south of I-471.
Local law enforcement officers will maintain traffic, and all work is weather dependent.
Arrow boards and/or signs will be in place to alert motorists of the upcoming lane and short-term rolling closures.
To help ensure the safety of the construction workers as well as the traveling public, motorists should remain alert, reduce their speed and watch for stopped traffic while passing through the work zone.
