Interstate 71/Lytle Tunnel project update 

Hamilton County (Thursday, May 31, 2018) - Work on the Interstate 71/Lytle Tunnel project requires the following lane and full closures beginning tonight:
  • Various lane closures on southbound I-71 prior to and within the Lytle Tunnel from 9 p.m. Thursday, May 31 through 5 a.m. Friday, June 1.
  • Full closure of the Third Street ramp from southbound I-71 from 9 p.m. Thursday, May 31 through approximately 5 a.m. Friday, June 15. The detour uses Gilbert, East Eighth, Sycamore and Third streets.
  • Double left lane closure on south I-71 prior to and through the Lytle Tunnel from 9 p.m. Friday, June 1 through 5 a.m. Saturday, June 2.
  • Full closure of northbound I-71 from the Fourth Street ramp in Covington, KY, across east Fort Washington Way and through the Lytle Tunnel from 10 p.m. Friday, June 15 through 5 a.m. Saturday, June 16. The detour uses north I-75 to SR 562.
Arrow boards and/or signs are in place to alert motorists of the upcoming work zone and restrictions. All work is contingent upon the weather.
To help ensure the safety of the construction workers as well as the traveling public, motorists should remain alert, reduce their speed and watch for stopped traffic while passing through the work zone.
