Temporary closure slated for area routes

Temporary Closure Slated For Area Routes
Motorists should be prepared for long periods of delay

Columbus (Thursday, December 15, 2011)Several routes in Districts 8, 9 and 10 of the Ohio Department of Transportation will be subject to intermittent periods of closure as a wide-load vehicle moves through southern Ohio.
On Saturday, Dec. 17, eastbound Interstates 74 and I-275 and State Route 32 will be subject to temporary closure at different periods of time as the load is moved from Harrison in Hamilton County to Coolville in Athens County. From Coolville, it will then travel U.S. 50 to West Virginia on Sunday, Dec. 18.
Throughout the operation, the affected routes will be closed in a rolling operation. The move will be contingent upon the weather, and the periods of closure will be dependent upon the company’s ability to facilitate the overall operation.
The move is being coordinated in conjunction with law enforcement personnel, who will be assisting ODOT with traffic control.  Although there will be no posted detour for these routes, motorists should seek alternate routes or plan their routes and travel times accordingly to allow for long periods of delay.
