Third Street/Interstate 71 ramp closure scheduled

Third Street/Interstate 71 ramp scheduled to close

Hamilton County (Monday, July 18, 2016) – As part of the work to rebuild the Interstate 71 bridge decks over Eggleston Avenue, Cutter/Butler roads and I-471, the Third Street ramp from southbound I-71 will be closed. This closure will begin in the late evening of Wednesday, July 20 and will remain in place for approximately one year.

Traffic will be detoured to Gilbert Street to East Eighth Street to Sycamore to Third Street.

During the next year and a half, the I-71 bridge decks will be rebuilt, beginning with southbound I-71 and finishing with the northbound I-71 lanes. Once this work begins, the southbound lanes will be shifted to the northbound side using contraflow lanes, just north of the Lytle Tunnel. Next year, for the work to occur in the northbound lanes, traffic will be shifted to the southbound side of I-71.

Additionally next year I-71 from north of the Lytle Tunnel to the Norwood Lateral will be repaved.

Arrow boards and/or signs will be in place to alert motorists of the upcoming work zone and ramp closure.

To help ensure the safety of the construction workers as well as the traveling public, motorists should remain alert, reduce their speed and watch for stopped traffic while passing through the work zone.
