US 50 work in Clermont County to start May 5

U.S. 50 bridge, resurfacing project to begin next week

Clermont County (Wednesday, April 30, 2014) – A project that will include bridge repair, culvert replacement and the resurfacing of nearly 16 miles of U.S. 50 is expected to begin next week.

The first of three 30-day closures to accommodate culvert replacement work will begin Monday, May 5 with U.S. 50 closed to traffic between Benton Road and the north leg of State Route 132, west of the village of Owensville. The detour is U.S. 50 to SR 132 to SR 131 to U.S. 50.  The project, which is scheduled for completion in October 2014, will also require two additional 30-day closures for culvert replacement work through the course of the summer. In addition, U.S. 50 will be resurfaced from the east corporation line of Milford to the village of Marathon.

Barrett Paving Material Inc. was awarded the contract on its bid of $4,680,608.
To help ensure the safety of the construction workers as well as the traveling public, motorists should remain alert, reduce their speed and watch for stopped traffic while passing through the work zone.
