Westbound RIver Road/US 50 traffic to be routed onto new ramp

Traffic pattern change to relocate westbound
River Road/US 50 to new ramp
Hamilton County (Friday, Dec. 28, 2012) –As work continues on the U.S. 50/Sixth Street Expressway, the following traffic patterns will be put in place beginning Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, weather permitting:
·         Wednesday, Jan. 2:  Maryland Avenue will be closed at its southern intersection with Elberon Avenue.  Access will be provided to local residents only by use of Maryland Avenue’s northern intersection with Mt. Hope Avenue.  Maryland Avenue will not be a through street.
 
·         Thursday, Jan. 3: Access from westbound River Road/US 50 to westbound Elberon Avenue will be moved onto the newly constructed ramp/bridge at the newly activated traffic signal on River Road/US 50.  Access from eastbound Elberon Avenue to eastbound River Road/US 50 will continue to use the newly constructed ramp/bridge.  Westbound River Road/US 50 traffic will have a continuous thru lane located at the new activated signal. Proper signage will be in place to direct motorists into this thru lane. Eastbound River Road/US 50 traffic and both eastbound and westbound Elberon traffic will need to go through the signal phasing.
 
·         Thursday, Jan. 3: The Evans Street intersection with River Road/U.S. 50 will re-open as a right-in and right-out intersection providing access from westbound River Road/US 50 to Evans Street and from Evans Street to westbound River Road/U.S. 50.  Access from eastbound River Road/US 50 to Evans Street and from Evans Street to eastbound River Road/US 50 will be prohibited.
 
·         Thursday, Jan. 3: Immediately following the reopening of the Evans Street intersection with River Road/US 50, THE SOUTHERN PORTION OF STATE AVENUE BETWEEN ST. MICHAEL AND RIVER ROAD/US 50 WILL BE CLOSED.  The closing of this southern portion of State Avenue will also close access BOTH TO AND FROM State Avenue to River Road/US 50, Elberon Avenue and Warsaw Avenue.  This southern portion of State Avenue will remain closed for approximately 12 months until construction of the new westbound Elberon and the new eastbound and westbound Warsaw ramp/bridges has been completed.
 
1.      The detour route for westbound River Road/US 50 to State Avenue will be westbound River Road/US 50 to northbound Evans Street to westbound Gest Street to State Avenue.
2.      The detour route for eastbound River Road/US 50 to State Avenue will continue to be eastbound River Road/US 50 to Mehring Way to northbound Freeman Avenue to westbound West Eighth Street to State Avenue. 
3.      The detour route for State Avenue to westbound River Road/US 50 will be State Avenue to eastbound Gest Street to southbound Evans Street to westbound River Road/US 50.
4.      The detour route from State Avenue to eastbound River Road/US 50 will be State Avenue to eastbound West Eighth Street to southbound Linn St. to eastbound River Road/US 50 via highway entrance ramp.
5.      The detour route for State Avenue to westbound Elberon Avenue will be State Avenue to eastbound West Eighth St. to southbound Freeman Ave. to westbound Mehring Way to westbound River Rd/US50 to new westbound ramp/bridge to Elberon Ave.
6.      The detour route for eastbound Elberon Avenue to State Avenue will be eastbound Elberon Avenue to eastbound River Road/US 50 to Mehring Way to northbound Freeman Avenue to westbound West Eighth Street to State Avenue. 
7.      The detour route both to and from State Avenue to Warsaw Avenue will continue to be Glenway Avenue to Wilder Avenue as presently exists.   
 
Detour signage will be in place to direct motorists. To help ensure the safety of the construction workers as well as the traveling public, motorists should remain alert, reduce their speed and watch for stopped traffic while passing through the work zone.
