I-71 resurfacing from Lytle Tunnel to just south of I-275

Current Status: Various ongoing lane closures on north and south I-71 through the completion of the projects.

 I-71 resurfacing from Lytle Tunnel to just south of I-275: I-71 resurfacing/bridge work NB and SB from north of Lytle Tunnel to near I-275.

  • Resurfacing/bridge work both NB and SB from north of the Lytle Tunnel to the overhead RR bridge north of SR 562/Norwood Lateral (approximately 5 miles). Repaving and slide repairs from the Lytle Tunnel to McMillan is underway. Repaving between Ridge and Victory Parkway has been completed. Repaving between McMillan and Victory Parkway was completed with the new I-71/MLK interchange project. (PID 82975)

o   Began: Spring 2017 – Est. completion: Fall 2018. Construction Cost: $24 million.


  • Repaving and bridge deck replacement of Stewart Bridge and rehab of other bridges from RR bridge north of SR 562/Norwood Lateral to SR 126/Ronald Reagan Cross County Highway (approximately 5.5 miles). Also includes widening to three continuous through lanes between the SR 562/Norwood Lateral interchange and Red Bank Expressway, removes the northbound Ridge exit and adds a NB I-71 exit to Kennedy. o   Began: Spring 2018 – Est. completion: late Summer 2021. Construction Cost: $36 million.


  • ​Resurfacing from SR 126/Ronald Regan Cross County Highway to just south of I-275 at Deerfield bridge (approximately 3 miles). (PID 84491)

o   Began: Spring 2018 – Est. completion: Fall 2018. Construction Cost: $4.2 million.
