Interstate 75 Construction Continues
Two projects undertake widening and rehab of I-75 from Cincinnati-Dayton Road to Warren/Montgomery county line
The reconstruction of Interstate 75 through Warren County is underway.
This $110.7 million project is rehabilitating eight miles of pavement and add one lane of traffic in each direction on I-75 from State Route 122 to the Warren/Montgomery county line. In addition, the project is reconfiguring the SR 122 interchange and replacing the I-75 bridge over SR 122 and the Pennyroyal Road bridge over I-75. Work includes the rehabilitation of the Manchester and Lower Springboro Road bridges. Completion is targeted for July 2012.
To accommodate work, nightly lane closures on northbound I-75 and eastbound SR 122 from Towne Blvd. to just east of Union Road are in place from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday. In addition, work is being performed from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on SR 122 between I-75 and Union Road. All lanes of traffic are maintained but motorists are cautioned to be aware of slower moving trucks entering and exiting the work zone area.
This project continues the reconstruction and widening of I-75 from Cincinnati-Dayton Road in Butler County to State Route 122 in Warren County, which began March 2008 and is scheduled for completion June 2011. Both projects are designed to improve safety and ease congestion through the I-75 corridor.
The $98 million project in Butler and Warren counties includes 11 miles of pavement rehabilitation and the addition of one lane in each direction from Cincinnati-Dayton Road to SR 122. Work also includes grading, drainage and resurfacing of the existing pavement. In addition, 12 mainline and overhead structures have or will receive improvements during this project. The Bethany, Princeton, Millikin and Kyles-Station overpasses in Butler County have received new decks and profiles while the decks have been replaced on the Greentree and Hendrickson overpasses in Warren County. The Tylersville Road and Hamilton-Mason structures’ decks will be resealed and the ramps at Tylersville Road will be repaved. In addition, noise walls are being installed along I-75 from Union Centre in Butler County to State Route 63 in Warren County.
The project also includes the construction this year of a Single Point Urban Interchange or SPUI at the State Route 63 interchange. A SPUI interchange uses one set of traffic signals to control all through and left turn traffic movements from and onto the interstate. Ramps will be widened and reconfigured to accommodate the SPUI interchange, and SR 63 will be reconstructed on both sides of the interchange, from Lawton Ave. to the west, and to tie in with recent reconstruction to the east at Senate Drive.
During construction, ODOT reminds drivers that they can protect everyone's safety by obeying reduced speed limits and paying attention to cones, signs, equipment and highway workers in project zones.
There is no better way for drivers to reach their destinations safely than to know what they will encounter before they hit the highways. ODOT"s premiere Web site, www.BuckeyeTraffic.org, offers up-to-the-minute information on work zone locations, traffic congestion alerts, road closures, weather conditions, and Highway Patrol accident updates; all available 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
