Adams-348 Bridge Replacement Project Postponed
Route To Be Closed In Early March
Chillicothe (Friday, February 25, 2011) -With this week's inclement weather and more rain in the forecast, a bridge replacement project on state Route 348 in Adams County has been postponed until early next month.
Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation have decided to close Ohio-348 on Monday, March 7, a week later than originally planned, due to this week's heavy rains that have caused creek washouts and next week's forecast which calls for additional rain on Monday (February 28).
Once operations for the first of two bridge replacements begin, the route will be closed at the 4.81-mile marker, west of County Road 6 (Cedar Mills Road) and near Cedar Hill Drive, for up to 90 days. Upon completion of this project, S.R. 348 will remain closed, and the contractors will move operations one-tenth mile east to replace a second structure that is located at the 4.94-mile marker. Replacement of this bridge, which is located immediately east of the route’s junction with Cedar Mills Road, is also scheduled to take 90 days to complete.
During the route’s 180-day closure for both projects, motorists will be detoured by way of S.R. 125 and County Road 18 (Blue Creek Road).
DGM Incorporated, of Beaver, Ohio, was awarded a contract in the amount of approximately $1.29 million to complete all work, and the scheduled completion date is September 30, 2011.
