Adams-41 Dual Culvert Project On Tap
Chillicothe (Tuesday, June 2, 2015) – A culvert replacement project will get under way in Adams County later this month, as contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation prepare to replace a pair of culverts on state Route 41.
On Monday, June 15, crews from Coopers Excavating will close Ohio-41 at the route’s 5.12-mile marker to undertake the first culvert replacement. The project site is situated adjacent to County Road 3 (Clayton Pike), and S.R. 41 will be closed at this location for up to 45 days. Although local traffic on Clayton Pike will be maintained, it may be subject to intermittent periods of closure at its intersection with S.R. 41.
Once this phase of the project has been completed, operations will move north to the 5.89-mile marker and immediately north of C.R. 19 (Suck Run Road). Replacement of this culvert will take an additional 45 days, and during which time the route will remain closed. Throughout the 90-day total closure, motorists will be detoured via U.S. 52 and S.R. 136.
Both existing culverts are corrugated metal arch pipes, and they will be replaced with precast concrete box culverts. Coopers Excavating was awarded a contract in the amount of approximately $414,048 to replace the culverts, and all work associated with the project is anticipated to be completed in early fall.
