Additional Lane Restriction Imposed On U.S. 23 South
Width Restriction To Be Imparted On Bridge
Chillicothe - While construction for a bridge deck replacement project gets under way this week, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will be imposing additional lane restrictions on U.S. Route 23 in Ross County.
As part of the project’s maintenance of traffic plan, southbound U.S. 23 is being reduced to one lane at the 15.32-mile marker, just south of the state Route 159/Kingston exit. In addition to this, a 13-foot width restriction will be imposed at the structure that is situated over Hopetown Road.
Currently, northbound traffic is reduced to one lane, and during the first phase of construction, the contractors will be repairing the bridge surface of the southbound lanes and constructing a median cross-over that will be used to divert one lane of northbound traffic to the southbound side of the route.
Motorists are advised to expect periodic delays, and they are reminded to exercise additional caution when traveling through the project area. The scheduled completion date is October 31, 2008.
