Annual Inspections Scheduled For Ironton-Russell Bridge
Chillicothe - As part of the state’s annual bridge inspection program, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will conduct routine field inspections of the Ironton-Russell Bridge in Lawrence County during the upcoming weeks.
Beginning Wednesday, October 14, and continuing through November 5, crews from Richland Engineering will be conducting physical inspections that include testing and examining pins and gusset plates from approximately 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day as weather permits.
During the first week of inspections, the bridge will be open to two lanes of traffic, and there should be little impact to traffic. However, intermittent lane restrictions will be imparted during the weeks of October 19 and October 26 in which the bridge will be reduced to one lane of traffic with traffic maintained by flaggers when crews are at work.
Lane restrictions are not anticipated to be in effect during the final week of inspections in early November, and the project is anticipated to be completed by November 5.
