Area Routes Undergoing Preventive Maintenance Project
Chillicothe (June 17, 2011) – A preventive maintenance project is under way on several area routes, as contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation have undertaken preliminary operations in Adams, Brown, Highland and Jackson counties.
Crews from the Miller-Mason Paving have been removing raised pavement markers and making partial-depth repairs in preparation to chip-seal sections of state Route 125 in Adams and Brown counties, as well as S.R. 124 and S.R. 753 in Highland County and S.R. 327 in Jackson County.
Paving operations are scheduled to begin Monday, June 20, in Brown County on S.R. 125, between the corporation limit of Russellville to the Adams County line. Following this, the contractors will move to Adams County, where they will be chip-sealing S.R. 125 between County Road 5 (Weaver Road) and C.R. 18 (Blue Creek Road).
Once completed in Adams and Brown counties, Miller-Mason will shift operations to Jackson-327, paving between U.S. 35 and C.R. 78 (Fairgreens Road). They will move to Highland County, where they will be working on S.R. 124, from S.R. 506 at Marshall to S.R. 41 at Sinking Spring and from S.R. 41 to the Pike County line, as well as S.R. 753, between U.S. 50 at Rainsboro and C.R. 25 (Paint Creek Road).
Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the aid of flaggers when crews are at work, and motorists are reminded of the need for reduced speed in the work zones.
The Miller-Mason Paving Company of Hillsboro, Ohio, was awarded a contract in the amount of $764,449.21 to the complete the project, and the scheduled completion date for all work is July 31, 2011.
