Arthur Retires From ODOT – District 9
Chillicothe - After nearly 40 years of dedicated service, a familiar face in Scioto County has retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation – District 9. Jimmy Arthur, a survey technician II, retired September 1 from the district’s Production Department.
Arthur began working for ODOT in June 1971 as an engineering aid in the Construction Department. Later, he was promoted to the position of survey technician in which he assisted with survey crew operations for the Production Department’s preparation of plans for construction projects.
“Jimmy has been an outstanding employee and a true asset to the department,” said District 9 Deputy Director James Brushart. “He took great pride in his work, and his commitment and dedication not only to the survey crew but the department will be missed.”
A graduate of Notre Dame High School, Arthur continues to reside in Portsmouth, where he shares his home with his wife, Donna. They are the parents of Amy, Jamie, Rachel Regina, Rhonda and Teresa. And while Jimmy has been active in many organizations and projects over the years, he is currently a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Sons of the American Legion.
“I’ve really enjoyed working at ODOT, and the fellowship I’ve shared with my co-workers,” said Arthur. “I will miss the people I have come to know so well, but I am looking forward to spending more time with my family.”
Although he will miss his co-workers, Arthur is ready for retirement in which he plans to work with his wife in their family-owned business, as well as continue trips to area flea markets and do a little fishing.
