Beam Installation Scheduled For Lawrence-7 Bridge Replacement
Route To Be Closed During Overnight Hours
Chillicothe (Wednesday, January 28, 2015) – With construction for a bridge replacement project on state Route 7 in Lawrence County continuing, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will be setting beams for the new structure next week, requiring back-to-back overnight closures.
On Monday and Tuesday, February 2 and 3, S.R. 7 will be closed during the evening and overnight hours for the contractors to erect concrete I-beams for the new bridge. The closure will go into effect at 6 p.m. each evening and continue until 6 a.m. the following morning.
While the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 775, S.R. 217 and S.R. 243. At all other times during construction, traffic is being maintained in one lane with the use of temporary traffic signals.
Currently, S.R. 7 is reduced to one lane at the Indian Guyan Creek bridge, west of Proctorville, where crews from Complete General Construction are replacing and widening the existing three-span continuous steel girder structure with a pre-stressed, reinforced concrete deck and substructure.
Although the project was originally scheduled to be completed by late fall last year, it was met with several delays that included redesigning the foundations or pier supports, adding an additional drilled shaft to the project design and flooding at the causeway below the structure.
Complete General was awarded a contract for approximately $2.85 million, and the revised completion is now anticipated to be in mid-May.
