Bench Cleaning To Begin Along Lawrence-52
Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation – District 9 will impart lane restrictions between the 12.3 and the 13.0-mile markers on U.S. 52, where they will be excavating and clearing the rock slopes and benches along the route’s westbound side in order to reduce the potential for rock falls.
The project site is situated between Township Road 268 (Crabtree Hollow Road), just east of the Ashland, Kentucky twin bridges, and County Road 1 (Old U.S. 52). Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane in the westbound direction, with eastbound U.S. 52 open to two lanes of traffic.
Motorists traveling in either direction, however, may encounter intermittent periods of delay as traffic will be stopped temporarily when crews are cutting large rock from the hillside. Drivers are reminded of the need for additional caution when traveling through the area.
DGM, Inc. was awarded a contract in the amount of $187,606 to complete the project, and all work is anticipated to be completed early summer of this year.
