Blue Run Road Restrictions Scheduled Wednesday
Chillicothe (Monday, November 16, 2015) – County Road 29 (Blue Run Road) in Scioto County will be subject to temporary periods of closure one day this week as part of construction for the new state Route 823.
On Wednesday, November 18, Blue Run Road will be closed for intermittent, temporary periods of time in order for crews from the Portsmouth Joint Venture (PJV) to clear trees. Operations will take place at various locations along the road at any time from 7 a.m. to noon. During which time, traffic will be stopped and held for five to 10-minute intervals while trees are being cut and cleared.
As the respective periods of closure will be for a limited duration, there will be no posted detour; however, motorists are advised to expect periods of delay, and they may want to seek alternate routes throughout the morning. Motorists are also reminded of the need for additional caution through the entire corridor, where crews and heavy equipment are moving in and out of the various work zones.
In the spirit of a public-private partnership, the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Portsmouth Gateway Group are constructing the new state Route 823, a 16-mile, four-lane, limited access highway from U.S. 23 at Lucasville to U.S. 52 at Sciotoville in Scioto County. The Southern Ohio Veterans Memorial Highway is the department’s first P3 project and the largest, modern earthwork project to be constructed in the state’s history.
