Blue Run Road Slated For Temporary Closure
Chillicothe (Friday, February 03, 2017) – As part of the Southern Ohio Veterans Memorial Highway project in Scioto County, County Road 29 (Blue Run Road) will be closed for up to eight weeks beginning early next week.
On Monday, February 6, Blue Run Road will be closed at its junction with Township Road 381 (Flowers-Ison Road), approximately one-half mile north of C.R. 28 (Lucasville-Minford Road), for mass excavation and earthwork, materials hauling and equipment crossing in the project right of way.
The work area is situated between Flowers-Ison Road and the C.R. 54 (Morris Lane)/T.R. 182 (Blue Run Township Road) intersection, and the closure will be in effect through the end of March. While Blue Run Road is closed, traffic will be detoured locally.
In the spirit of a public-private partnership, the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Portsmouth Gateway Group are constructing the new state Route 823, a 16-mile, four-lane, limited access highway from U.S. 23 at Lucasville to U.S. 52 at Sciotoville in Scioto County. The Southern Ohio Veterans Memorial Highway is the department’s first P3 project and the largest, modern earthwork project to be constructed in the state’s history.
The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by ODOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 11, 2015, and executed by FHWA and ODOT.
