County Road 503 (Ohio River Road).
During the week of July 10, crews from the Portsmouth Joint Venture will
close Ohio River Road between its junction with S.R. 140 and County Road 251
(Hastings Hill Road) for bridge construction and beam erection at Bridge 1B
and Bridge 2, both of which are approximately 33 percent complete.
closure will go into effect at 8 a.m. Monday, July 10, and continue through
Saturday, July 15, and while the route is closed, motorists will be detoured
by way of U.S. 52 and Center Street at Wheelersburg.
with the closure of Ohio River Road, American Electric Power (AEP) has
announced a planned outage for much of the Sciotoville and Sciotodale areas
in order to work on electric grid lines affected by the roadway project.
affected areas will extend along U.S. 52 from the east end of New Boston
toward Wheelersburg and include the Hastings Hill Road area, and north along
S.R. 140 and S.R. 335 toward Minford, including the areas of Swauger Valley
Road, Bonser Run Road and Rigrish Addition.
outage has been scheduled for Monday, July 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.;
however, AEP does not anticipate that all areas will be without power for the
entire four-hour timeframe. In the event of inclement weather, the project will
be postponed until Tuesday, July 11.
the spirit of a public-private partnership, the Ohio Department of
Transportation and the Portsmouth Gateway Group are constructing the new
state Route 823, a 16-mile, four-lane, limited access highway from U.S. 23 at
Lucasville to U.S. 52 at Sciotoville in Scioto County. The Southern Ohio
Veterans Memorial Highway is the department’s first P3 project and the
largest, modern earthwork project to be constructed in the state’s history.
