Chillicothe (Thursday, June 7, 2012) – With utility work and preliminary operations now complete, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation are set to begin a bridge replacement project on state Route 139 in Jackson County.
According to ODOT - District 9 Deputy Director Vaughn Wilson, crews from DGM, Incorporated will close S.R. 139 at the 11.64-mile marker on Monday, June 11, to replace the existing structure with a concrete box culvert. The project site is located between Township Road 745 (Ralph Riegel Road) and T.R. 274 (Chestnut Grove Road), south of Jackson, and construction also includes building the necessary approach work and installing guardrail.
The route will be closed for up to 45 days, and while it is closed, traffic will be detoured by way of S.R. 32, S.R. 93 and S.R. 279.
DGM, Incorporated, of Beaver, Ohio, was awarded a contract in the amount of $223,758 to replace the bridge, and following the 45-day window for closure, all remaining work is anticipated to be completed by late August.
