Bridge Replacement Set To Begin On Abernathy Road
Route to be closed for 75 days
Chillicothe (Tuesday, June 18, 2013) – Preliminary operations for a bridge replacement project on County Road 55 in Highland County are under way, and construction will get started next week.
Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Highland County Engineer’s Office will be replacing a bridge on C.R. 55 (Abernathy Road) over Dobson Creek, just south of the road’s junction with U.S. Route 50 at Allensburg. Along with replacing the bridge, crews will be reconstructing and widening the roadway approach to the bridge.
Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, June 24, and Abernathy Road will be subject to closure for up to 75 days. While the road is closed, motorists will be detoured via C.R. 32 (Tedrick/Roush Road) and Township Road 118 (Gibler Road).
R. B. Jergens Contractors of Vandalia, Ohio, was awarded a contract for approximately $595,624 to replace the bridge, and all work is anticipated to be completed by mid-fall.
