Bridge Replacement Set To Begin On Lawrence Street
Chillicothe (Monday, June 3, 2013) - Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation have begun preliminary operations for a bridge replacement project on County Road 22 in Lawrence County.
According to ODOT District 9 Deputy Director Vaughn Wilson, C.R. 22 (Little Storms Creek Road/Lawrence Street) will be closed at Ironton and its underpass with U.S. Route 52 to replace a bridge at the 0.06-mile marker.
Crews from DGM, Incorporated of Beaver, Ohio, will be replacing the existing structure with a single-span, pre-stressed concrete box beam bridge and reconstructing the approaches. The project is scheduled to begin Monday, June 3, and the bridge will be closed for up to 120 days. While the route is closed, traffic will be detoured via state Route 93 and County Road 21 (Porter Gap Road).
DGM, Inc. was awarded a contract in the amount of approximately $916,451 to replace the bridge, and the entire project is scheduled to be completed by late summer.
