Bridge Replacement Set To Begin On S.R. 353
Route to be closed later this month
Chillicothe (Thursday, September 17, 2015) – Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation are preparing for a bridge replacement project on state Route 353 in Brown County, with construction getting under way later this month.
Crews from Coopers Excavating will be replacing a culvert located at the 0.65-mile marker on S.R. 353, between U.S. Route 62 at Red Oak and Township Road 4 (Mt. Aire Road). The project includes replacing the existing continuous steel beam bridge that was built in 1961 with a 14x6-foot, pre-cast concrete box culvert.
Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, September 28, and the route will be closed to traffic for up to 45 days. While it is closed, motorists will be detoured by way of U.S. 62 and S.R. 125.
Coopers Excavating of Winchester, Ohio was awarded a contract in the amount of $254,568 to replace the bridge, and all work is expected to be completed by late fall.
