Bridge Replacement Set To Begin On South Bridge Street
Route To Be Closed During Construction
Chillicothe (Wednesday, March 6, 2013) – It’s still winter, but with spring just around the corner, the Ohio Department of Transportation is gearing up for construction with a bridge replacement project on state Route 104 in Ross County.
On Monday, March 18, crews from Complete General Construction will begin preliminary operations to replace the twin bridges on S.R. 104 (S. Bridge Street) over the CSX Corporation and Glatfelter Railroad with a four-span bridge. The project site is located at the Chillicothe corporation limit, between Southern Avenue and Eighth Street/Eastern Avenue, and construction will also include guardrail replacement and approach work.
Following site preparations, the route will be closed to traffic, and traffic will be detoured via Eastern Avenue and U.S. Route 23. Closure of S. Bridge Street is scheduled to go into effect on Monday, April 1.
Complete General Construction was awarded a contract for approximately $2.34 million, and all work is anticipated to be completed by late October.
