Bridge Replacement Set To Begin On U.S. 68
Route to be closed later this month
Chillicothe (Friday, April 15, 2016) – As crews and contractors gear up for a busy 2016 construction season, a bridge replacement project is slated to begin on U.S. Route 68 in Brown County later this month, and the route will be closed to traffic.
Crews from DGM, Incorporated will be replacing the bridge situated over Solomon Run and located at the 41.42-mile marker on U.S. 68, immediately north of County Road 48 (Anderson State Road) and the corporation limit of Fayetteville. In addition to replacing the superstructure of the bridge, construction will also include approach work, approach slabs and guardrail.
Work is scheduled to begin Monday, April 25, and the route will be closed to traffic for up to 75 days. While it is closed, motorists will be detoured by way of U.S. 50, S.R. 251 and S.R. 123; a local detour will also be assigned.
DGM, Inc. of Beaver, Ohio was awarded a contract in the amount of $578,110 to replace the bridge, and all work is expected to be completed by mid-summer.
