Bridge Replacements Slated To Begin On Brown County Routes
S.R. 763, 286 To Be Closed Next Week
Chillicothe (Tuesday, March 4, 2014) - Operations for a pair of bridge replacement projects will get under way next week in Brown County, requiring the closure of two routes.
According to Ohio Department of Transportation - District 9 Deputy Director Vaughn Wilson, state routes 763 and 286 will be closed Monday, March 10, in order for crews from Coopers Excavating to start construction on the bridge replacements.
Weather permitting, the contractors will close S.R. 763 at the route’s 11.50-mile marker to begin the first of a dual bridge replacement between Township Road 221 (West Fork Road) and S.R. 353/S.R. 125. Once the first phase of the project is completed, crews will move operations to replace a second structure that is located at the 11.60-mile marker. The route will be subject to closure for approximately five months, and during its closure, motorists will be detoured by way of S.R. 41, U.S. Route 52, U.S. 62 and S.R. 353.
In a separate project, crews from Coopers Excavating will be rehabilitating a bridge on S.R. 286 over Five Mile Creek and located at the 4.60-mile marker, between County Road 87 (Bodman Road) and U.S. 68. The project also includes abutment modifications, approach slab construction and guardrail replacement.
This project has a 75-day window for closure, and while S.R. 286 is closed, motorists will be detoured via U.S. 68, S.R. 131 and U.S. 50 to Marathon in Clermont County.
Coopers Excavating, of Winchester, Ohio, was awarded contracts for both projects in the amount of approximately $468,785 and $334,996, respectively. Construction on S.R. 763 is scheduled to be completed in early fall, and work on S.R. 286 should be completed by mid-summer.
