Street Intersection Repair, Resurfacing Project Set To Begin
U.S. 35 Interchange Ramp Closures Next
Chillicothe (Tuesday, September 9, 2014) – An
intersection repair project will get under way in Ross County next week, when
contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation start construction at
state Route 159 (Bridge Street) and U.S. Route 35 in Chillicothe.
Crews from Shelly and
Sands, Incorporated will be planing the pavement, making repairs and
resurfacing the intersection and the on/off ramps at Bridge Street and U.S.
35; the project also includes paving the shoulders and raising and repairing
Construction is scheduled
to begin Monday, September 15, and throughout most of the project, traffic
will be maintained on Bridge Street and the interchange ramps. However, the
entrance and exit ramps to and from U.S. 35 East will be subject to closure
for four consecutive nights next week.
On Monday and continuing
through Thursday, the exit ramp from U.S. 35 East to Bridge Street and the on
ramp from Bridge Street to eastbound U.S. 35 will be closed during the
evening and overnight hours. The closure will go into effect at 8 p.m. each
evening and continue until 6 a.m. the following morning, with the interchange
ramps open to daytime travel. During periods of closure, motorists will be
detoured via Main and Bridge streets.
Shelly and Sands was
awarded a contract for approximately $265,488 to repair and resurface the
intersection, and all work is anticipated to be completed in mid-October.
