Bridge replacement project set to begin on S.R. 138
ODOT Districts Partnering For Pickaway County Construction
Chillicothe (Monday, August 8, 2016) – A bridge replacement project will get under way soon on state Route 138 in Pickaway County, with contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation beginning operations next week.
On Monday, August 15, S.R. 138 will be closed approximately five miles east of the Ross County line for crews from WAI Construction Group to replace a bridge over Yellowbud Creek.
The project includes replacing the existing concrete box beam bridge with a three-sided concrete arch culvert at the route’s 5.25-mile marker. The project site is located between County Road 101 (Hickory Bend Road) and T.R. 23 (Chillicothe Pike), and construction also includes improving the approach pavement, installing new guardrail and regrading the slopes.
The closure is scheduled to be in effect for up to 60 days, and while S.R. 138 is closed, motorists will be detoured by way of U.S. 22 and S.R. 207; a local detour will also be assigned.
WAI Construction Group was awarded a contract in the amount of $370,434 to undertake the project, and all work is anticipated to be completed by mid-fall.
In addition to the S.R. 138 bridge replacement, ODOT District 9’s construction department is partnering with District 6 to administer two other Pickaway County projects. These include a resurfacing and bridge repair on S.R. 56 and U.S. 22 and bridge replacement project on S.R. 104; both of which are already under way and due to be completed in late August.
