Bridge Repair Project Wrapping Up
Highland-247 Slated To Reopen
Chillicothe - Following three months of construction, a bridge repair project on state Route 247 in Highland County is nearing completion, and the route is reopening to traffic.
Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation are scheduled to reopen the bridge that is located approximately eight miles south of Hillsboro by 4 p.m. Friday, June 26.
“This project has progressed very well, and we are pleased that the contractors have completed major construction within the allotted timeframe,” said District 9 Deputy Director James Brushart. “Although there is some minor work to be completed, there should be little to no impact to motorists during the remainder of construction.”
The route was closed in late March for crews from Double Z Construction Company to replace the deck, beams and wearing surface of the structure located between County Road 21 (Peach Orchard Road) and Township Road 169 (Walker Road).
Double Z Construction, of Columbus, Ohio, was awarded a contract in the amount of $829,573 to complete the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed by July 31.
