Bridge Replacement On Tap In Mt. Orab
Eastbound Closure Planned For Tri-County Highway
Chillicothe (February 25, 2010) B Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will undertake a bridge replacement project on County Road 24 (Tri-County Highway) in Mt. Orab, requiring partial closure of the route early next month.
According to District 9 Deputy Director James Brushart, Tri-County Highway (Main Street) will be closed to eastbound traffic while westbound traffic will be maintained in one lane as crews replace the bridge located over Sterling Run and immediately west of U.S. Route 68 (High Street). The closure and lane restrictions are scheduled to be imparted Monday, March 8.
“Although we’re still combating winter weather, this year’s construction season is just around the corner, and we are preparing for the start of several projects in District 9,” said Brushart. “This will be the largest construction program in Ohio history – 30 percent larger than at any other time – and we are looking forward to a safe and productive season while working with many of our local partners, such as Todd Cluxton and the Brown County Engineer’s Office.”
Crews from DGM Incorporated of Beaver, Ohio, will be replacing the deteriorated structure, and while the bridge is closed to eastbound traffic, motorists will be detoured via Main Street to County Road 87 (Bodman Road) to state Route 32.
DGM was awarded a contract in the amount of $795,095.95 to complete the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed by October 31, 2010.
