Bridge Replacement Project To Get Under Way On Lawrence-775 Route To Be Closed For Up To 60 Days
Chillicothe (Thursday, July 22, 2010) – With this year’s construction season moving at a rapid pace, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation are preparing for a bridge replacement over Buckeye Creek in northeastern Lawrence County.
“As part of a very active construction program in Lawrence County, this bridge replacement is just one of the eight preservation, safety and enhancement projects in which we are investing more than $6 million to preserve our infrastructure and improve the county’s state highway system,” said District 9 Deputy Director James A. Brushart.
On Monday, August 9, crews from DGM, Incorporated will close state Route 775 at the 17.26-mile marker to replace a structure that is situated over Buckeye Creek and just north of Township Road 177 (Rappsburg-Buckeye Creek Road) and the route’s junction with S.R. 141 at Wilgus.
The closure is scheduled to be in place for up to 60 days, and while it is closed motorists will be detoured via S.R. 790 to S.R. 218 in Gallia County to S.R. 217 and 775 in Lawrence County.
DGM, of Beaver, Ohio, was awarded a contract in May for approximately $536,500 to replace the bridge, and the scheduled completion date for all work is October 22, 2010.
