Bridges Road Project Moving Into Next Phase Of Construction
Chillicothe (Friday, April 24, 2015) – As part of an ongoing dual bridge replacement and realignment project on County Road 11 (Bridges Road) in Highland County, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) and the Highland County Engineer’s Office are moving into the next phase of construction and preparing to close Bridges Road over Hardin Creek.
DGM, Inc. has been contracted to replace a pair of bridges located on Bridges Road at the 17.43-mile marker and over Bull Creek, approximately one-half mile north of S.R. 771, and at the 16.78-mile marker over Hardin Creek, south of S.R. 771. The project also includes significant approach work to correct horizontal and vertical deficiencies, as well as the relocation of the Bridges Road intersection with C.R. 48 (Grimsley Road).
Currently, construction is under way at the Bull Creek bridge north of S.R. 771, and the route is closed at the 17.43-mile marker. With operations nearing completion at this location, crews are now moving south of S.R. 771 to begin work at the Hardin Creek bridge and C.R. 48 (Grimsley Road) intersection, closing the route at the 16.78-mile marker on Tuesday, April 28.
Those traveling south on Bridges Road will be detoured by way of Grimsley Road, Old U.S. 62, U.S. 62, Fairfield Road and S.R. 771. Motorists traveling north of S.R. 771 will continue to be detoured via C.R. 44 (Centerfield Road), C.R. 15 (Monroe Road) and S.R. 771 until it is reopened to traffic.
DGM, Inc. of Beaver, Ohio, was awarded a contract for approximately $2.13 million to replace both structures, and while the bridge located north of S.R. 771 will reopen well in advance, the anticipated completion for all work is late October.
