Brown-221 To Reopen This Afternoon
Daytime-Only Closures Scheduled Next Week
Chillicothe - While one culvert replacement project wraps up on state Route 221 this afternoon, another series will begin next week in preparation for an upcoming resurfacing project.
State Route 221 will be open to traffic by approximately 4 p.m. today, June 5, as crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation Brown County Highway Maintenance Facility complete operations near the route’s 5.0-mile marker.
Crews will continue during the week of June 8 to replace five additional culverts situated between the route’s junction with U.S. 52 near Higginsport and the 7.36-mile marker near Georgetown.
These projects, however, will result in daytime-only closure of the route. Weather permitting, the route will be closed at various locations from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, Monday through Friday, with it being open to evening and overnight travel.
While the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 125, U.S. 52 and S.R. 505.
