Brown-251 Culvert Replacement Project Delayed
Route closed today for utility work; culvert repairs resume tomorrow
Chillicothe (Tuesday, September 6, 2016) – State Route 251 in Brown County has been closed at the 2.9-mile marker for a culvert replacement project; however, due to utility issues, the project will be extended, and the route will be closed an additional day this week.
Crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Brown County Highway Maintenance Facility were scheduled to begin the first of a pair of culvert replacement projects today, September 6, replacing a deteriorated culvert between S.R. 123 and County Road 312 (Kernan Road).
However, due to an unexpected utility issue that is being addressed today, S.R. 251 will be closed again on Wednesday, September 7, for crews to replace the pipe. The route will also be closed on Thursday, September 8, for the second culvert repair at the 3.3-mile marker, just south of Kernan Road.
The closures will be in effect from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, and while the route is closed, motorists will be detoured by way of S.R. 123 and U.S. 68. S.R. 251 will be open to evening and overnight travel.
