Cleanup Efforts Continue On S.R. 327
Closure To Remain In Place Through Next Week
Chillicothe (Thursday, March 18, 2010) – Crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Jackson County Highway Maintenance Facility continue their efforts to remove rock along state Route 327 following a slide that occurred last week.
Currently, the route is closed near the 19.50-mile marker at Township Road 207 (Woodrow Hale Road), where county forces are working to remove additional rock from the hillside and clear the roadway of debris. Full closure of the route was deemed necessary due to the amount of rock that needed to be removed and the potential for large boulders to fall onto the pavement.
“The scope of this project has been tremendous, and our crews are working very hard and as quickly as possible to restore the route to safe, passable travel,” said District 9 Deputy Director Jim Brushart.
It was anticipated the route would be reopened to traffic by the end of this week. However, due to the scope of the project, S.R. 327 will remain closed through next week. While the route is closed, motorists will continue to be detoured by way of state Route 93 at Wellston to U.S. 50 and S.R. 327 in Vinton County.
