Closure Planned For County Bridge Project
Loys Run Bridge Replacement Will Get Under Way This Month
Chillicothe (Friday, April 2, 2010) B Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will undertake a bridge replacement project on County Road 28 (Loys Run Road) in Pike County, with closure of the route going in effect later this month.
According to District 9 Deputy Director James A. Brushart, Loys Run Road will be closed to traffic as crews replace the bridge located at the 4.73-mile marker over Loys Run, approximately one-half mile west of the roadway’s intersection of state Route 104. The closure is scheduled to be imparted Monday, April 12.
“As we embark on the largest construction program in Ohio history, we are making significant investments to preserve and enhance our infrastructure,” said Brushart. “As such, we look forward to a safe and productive season while working with many of our local partners, such as Denny Salisbury and the Pike County Engineer’s Office.”
Crews from the Parker Corporation of Tuppers Plains, Ohio, will be replacing the deteriorated structure, and while the bridge is closed, motorists will be detoured locally by way of County Road 21 (Sunfish Creek Road) and County Road 24 (Bethel Hill Road).
The Parker Corporation was awarded a contract in the amount of $293,234.30 to complete the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed by August 15, 2010.
