Temporary Closure Slated
For U.S. 52
Chillicothe - U.S. Route 52 in Brown and Clermont counties will be closed for intermittent periods of time tomorrow, February 29, for contractors to transport a transformer from Kentucky to Ohio.
Edwards Moving and Rigging of Shelbyville, Ky., will transport an approximately 350-ton electrical transformer from a power plant in Mason County, Kentucky, to the W.C. Beckjord Station (Duke Energy) in New Richmond, Ohio.
The route will be closed in a rolling operation beginning at anytime after 10 a.m. and continuing throughout the day. The move will be contingent upon the weather, and the periods of closure will be dependent upon the company=s ability to facilitate the overall operation.
As part of this move, the William Harsha Bridge at Maysville, which carries US 62/68 across the Ohio River, will also close temporarily, between approximately 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Due to size of the load, the bridge must be closed to all other traffic during the move.
In addition to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and the Ohio Department of Transportation, the move is being coordinated in conjunction with Kentucky and Ohio law enforcement agencies, which will be assisting with traffic control.
While there will be no posted detour, motorists should be prepared for long periods of delay and should seek alternate routes or plan their routes and travel times accordingly.
