Comment Period Open For Jackson-35 Project
Chillicothe (Friday, January 23, 2015) – As part of the Ohio Department of Transportation – District 9’s Planning & Engineering Department, the district’s Environmental Office is seeking public input on the following project in Jackson County.
JAC-35-6.32 (PID: 94361) – The proposed project is to stabilize an existing rock slope adjacent to the 6.32-mile marker on U.S. 35 in Jackson County. The site area is located immediately west of Township Road 223 (Caves Road) in Jackson Township, and the project will include the construction of benches on the existing slope to reduce rock falls.
Twelve trees that have habitat for the federally endangered Indiana Bat will be removed for the project. In addition, the project will require approximately 0.031 acres of temporary right of way and 0.554 acres of permanent right of way; however, no homes or businesses will be removed.
Issues the public may wish to comment on include the effect on local residents, air quality, the local economy, and historic or cultural resources. Written comments should be submitted by February 6, 2015, or the deadline date that is posted on the web site, to:
