Comment Period Open For Pike County Culvert Replacement
Chillicothe (Thursday, April 9, 2015) – As part of the Ohio Department of Transportation – District 9’s Planning & Engineering Department, the district’s Environmental Office is seeking public input on the following culvert replacement project on state Route 335 in Pike County.
PIK-335-18.77 (PID: 93790) – It is proposed to replace the twin, corrugated metal pipe arch structure located between Township Road 511 (Straight Creek Road) and County Road 51 (River Road) in Jackson Township with a 10 x 4-foot box culvert. The project will require approximately 0.367 acres of permanent right of way, which is located within a forested area and along the stream channel. Two trees that have habitat for the federally endangered Indiana Bat will be removed; however, no homes or businesses will be removed by the project.
Issues the public may wish to comment on include the effect on local residents, air quality, the local economy, and historic or cultural resources. Written comments should be submitted by April 23, 2015, or the deadline date that is posted on the web site, to:
