Comment Period Open For Pike County Slide Repair Project
Chillicothe (Monday, December 5, 2016) – As part of the Ohio Department of Transportation – District 9’s Planning & Engineering Department, the district’s Environmental Office is seeking public input on a slide repair project in Pike County.
PIK-CR4-3.98 (PID: 101423) – It is proposed to correct landslide damage on County Road 4 (Pike Lake Road) with drilled shaft retaining walls, pavement overlay, culvert replacement and guardrail replacement. The project site is located just south of the Pike-Ross County line in Benton Township, and the project will require 0.025 acres of permanent right of way.
No homes or businesses will be removed as a result of this project; however, one tree with habitat for the federally endangered Indiana bat and federally threatened northern long-eared bat will be removed. A contract is anticipated to be awarded in the summer of 2017, and closure of the roadway may be necessary to complete the project.
