Comment Period Open For S.R. 217 Bridge Replacement
(Monday, November 6, 2017) – As part of the Ohio Department of Transportation – District
9’s Planning & Engineering Department, the district’s Environmental
Office is seeking public input for a bridge replacement project on state
Route 217 in Lawrence County.
LAW-217-6.97 (PID: 12148) – It is proposed to replace the structure at the 6.97-mile
marker on S.R. 217, situated between S.R. 378 and S.R. 775 and immediately east of C.R. 64 (Venisonham Camp Branch Road) in Windsor Township. Built in
1932, the existing structure is a single-span timber bridge, and it will be
replaced with a single-span, concrete slab bridge.
project will require approximately 0.321 acres of permanent right of way
located along the stream channel and floodplain forest; however, no homes or
businesses will be removed as a result of the project. A contract is
scheduled to be awarded in the spring of 2019, and although a full closure of
the route during construction is not anticipated, short-term, intermittent
periods of closure may be needed during some phases of the project.
