Comment Period Open For S.R. 279 Bridge
(Thursday, March 08, 2018) – As part of the Ohio Department of
Transportation – District 9’s Planning Department, the district’s
Environmental Office is seeking public input for a bridge replacement project
on state Route 279 in Jackson County.
(PID: 100887) – It is proposed to replace
the structure that is located at the 10.13-mile marker over Jackson Lake,
between C.R. 8 (Tommy Been Road) and C.R. 56 (McCorkle Road), in Milton
Township of Jackson County. Built in 1940, the existing five-span, continuous
concrete bridge will be replaced with a three-span, continuous reinforced
concrete slab on capped pile abutments and piers.
The project will not require
any new right of way, and no homes or businesses will be removed as a result
of the project. A contract is scheduled to be awarded in the summer of 2019, and
a closure of the route will be required through the duration of the project.
