Comment Period Open For Scioto-139 Bridge
(Tuesday, October 9, 2018) – As part of the Ohio Department of
Transportation – District 9’s Planning Department, the district’s
Environmental Office is seeking public input for a dual bridge replacement project
on state Route 139 in Scioto County.
(PID: 100892) – The proposed project is
to replace two structures located at the 15.00-mile marker, at the route’s
junction with C.R. 20 (Salem Road) and three miles west of the Scioto-Jackson
County line in Madison Township. The first structure is a single-span
concrete bridge, and it will be replaced with a four-side concrete box
culvert. The second structure is a 78-inch concrete culvert, and it will be
replaced with a 53”x83” elliptical culvert.
The project will require
approximately 0.113 acres of permanent right of way; however, no homes or
businesses will be removed as a result of construction, and the project will
not affect any rivers, streams, wetlands or other water bodies.
Currently, a contract
is scheduled anticipated to be awarded in the summer of 2019, and a closure may
be in place during some phase of construction.
